Job Description
KaBOOM! (kaboom.org) listed as one of the 50 Best Nonprofits to work for in 2011 by The NonProfit Times is a national non-profit organization dedicated to bringing play back into the lives of our children.
We passionately believe that play has purpose. We are driven to create a movement in support of this belief by facilitating and building innovative, kid-inspired playspaces, using a community-build model which improves the well-being of the children we serve as well as the communities in which they live. We also create platforms and opportunities for the collaborative sharing and continual improvement of knowledge and tools needed for anyone to build playgrounds on their own, and we are advocates of the importance for each child to have a safe and engaging place, as well as the time, to play.
We are currently seeking a part-time intern who would like to apply their studies in a fun, relevant, and mission driven environment as a member of our Mass Action team. The Mass Action team at KaBOOM! is responsible for leveraging the online tools and programs to inspire action for the cause of play. This is a part-time, unpaid internship located in our Washington, DC headquarters.
Some of the key responsibilities of this internship include:
- Locate & share relevant articles, studies, photos, and news about outdoor play
- Assist with management of Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest accounts
- Assist with management of our mobile app Tag!
- Assist with outreach efforts for online campaigns and tools
Qualifications include:
- Currently attending college or graduate school in the Washington DC metro area
- Studies in Communications or Marketing a plus, but not required
- Exceptional written communication skills
- Experience with using social media for outreach, particularly Twitter and Facebook
- Ability to work independently within a team environment
